Britt completed his Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2000 from Grand Valley State University and his Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology from Northern Michigan University. Britt is a Licensed Masters Level Social Worker (LMSW) and has been a Certified Advanced Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CAADC) for over 15 years.

Britt has been providing substance abuse and mental health services for over 20 years. He has worked in various mental health & substance abuse settings that have included inpatient, outpatient, & outreach. His primary experience has been working as an outpatient therapist in the non-profit sector, helping clients with the greatest need and limited resources.

In 2009 Britt founded Ascend Counseling LLC which specialized in providing group therapy substance abuse educational programs for the court system in several counties in Michigan. In the past 5 years he has shifted his private practice focus from facilitating group programs to providing substance abuse assessment services. Britt had his share of legal problems caused by his substance use in his late teens / early 20’s and knows on a personal level the stress of going through the court/legal process. His goal is to provide his clients with an assessment experience that is non-judgmental, and addresses both mental health concerns in addition to substance abuse issues. His clients tell him that his sense of humor, ability to be down to earth are reasons why they enjoy working with him.

AMANDA KLOPFER, LMSW, CAADC

Amanda completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2003 from Western Michigan University and obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Michigan University in 1991. Amanda has over 20 years of experience working with individuals with a wide variety of mental health, intellectual and substance use disorders. The majority of services were providing case management, individual and group therapy in an outpatient setting, in person and via telehealth. Amanda has multiple years of experience completing 24-hour emergency mental health assessments and referral to appropriate levels of care, both mental health and SUD.

Amanda’s current credentials in the State of Michigan include: Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW), Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC).  She has training and experience in multiple evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Seeking Safety (PTSD and SUD), Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Amanda believes in identification and development of individual strengths and importance of the therapeutic relationship. She offers a non-judgmental, supportive environment to learn and practice coping skills needed to improve quality of life issues.
